The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare in the Park, 2007
Director Mellissa Marlowe opted to set the Bard's tale of courtship...in modern-day San Antonio. Marlowe replaced Shakespeare's place references with Texas sites...all of which landed nicely at Wednesday's lively opening performance. The show is...well-paced, with strong comic performances throughout...Marlowe laced the production with well-chosen recordings from Texas bands...It gives the show a distinctive texture that serves the material well...It adds up to a lovely evening.
